I saw Donavan yesterday with our buddy, Matt. We were quite excited to see him looking better. He is still breathing on a tracheal tube. His eyes seem to say he understands us but he is unable to communicate with us, other than with a hand squeeze. This frustrates him and raises his blood pressure. We are unwittingly making matters worse. We might wait a while before seeing him again, and then in a consciously calmer state of mind (ours as well as his). This is hard for all of us but not as hard as it is for him. All we can do is wait and hope for the best.
